What’s Happening…

Our inaugural Suunto Multisport Team camp is coming up in just a few short weeks, but that hasn’t slowed our athletes down from hitting the dirt, road and snow to represent. Check out just a few of the highlights from the weekend.

Nora Bird (Madison, WI)

Nora is one of our distance runners who really put that title to work when she set off from Kenosha, WI on Friday February 22nd and pointed west in hopes of running 175 miles to the other side of the state of Wisconsin.

Nora’s goal in this endeavor was to attempt to set the fastest known time for this route but more importantly, to raise money and awareness for a charity that her grandmother co-founded called Riverway Communities of Hope. RCH is a non-profit organization that provides substance abuse and mental health treatments to youth in rural and small towns.

After covering 138 miles, her journey ended prematurely when a severe winter weather advisory came across around 5am on Saturday. Nora commented on her post by saying,  “I had run through the night in single digit temps, I had a smile on my face, my body was throwing down some quick paces. I Felt Great!”
Nora was still able to raise $1,500 for the charity .

“I’m never doing that again, well maybe. Probably, ok”.

Sawna Guardarrama

Sawna Guardarrama (Los Angeles, CA)

“Never doing that again, well maybe. Probably. Ok” That’s what Sawna  said after running 58 miles covering over 26,000’ of elevation gain and loss at the UTX 90k in Guatemala this past Saturday.

Sawna just started running again this past October after recovering froman injury that had her  sidelined last year. She credits the Salomon Run Streak that challenged runners to run at least one mile each day for 40 days, ending on New Years Day with getting her run legs and motivation back on track.

Adam Olson (Salt Lake City, UT)

Back in Wisconsin, our Utah based trail runner, Adam Olson waxed up the Nordic skis and took to the abundance of snow at the 46th running of the American Birkebeiner nordic ski race in Hayward, WI.

This 50k point to point ski race is one that Adam has trained for the last few years and that training seems to be paying off as he climbed up 200 spots from last year, inching his way closer to earning that elusive spot in the elite wave.

SUUNTO What to “Watch”

Tokyo, Japan  - Denise Sauriol (Chicago, IL) will be running the Tokyo Marathon on Sunday March 3rd. Denise is running to help raise funding for NAMI Chicago, a non-profit that helps hope and guided direction for those struggling with mental illness.

Taupo, New Zealand – Eliot Scymanski (Pomona, CA) will be putting the first major triathlon on the books for the Suunto Multisport Team as he travels to Taupo, New Zealand to compete at IRONMAN ® New Zealand.

We are looking forward to seeing many of you at our inaugural Suunto Multisport Team training camp from March 14-17th in St George, UT. As you may have noticed, there wasn’t much branding in the photos here and that’s because these athletes will be receiving all of their new team kits and products at our camp in March. Just wait until you see them break the internet when they get their new digs!!
