Western States and a Whole Lot More
We had over 20 athletes racing this weekend from Western States 100, Ironman 70.3’s, to Chamonix, France for Marathon du Mont Blanc.
The original and arguably the most prestigious ultra trail race in the world, Western States Endurance Run, is an iconic feature in endurance sports. Covering 100 miles from Squaw Valley to Auburn, California, runners traverse, snow, river crossings and mountain passes in hopes of finishing under the 30 hour cutoff.
This year Suunto was an official sponsor of the event and Suunto athletes Kelly Young, Sawna Guardarrama, Jonnah Perkins, and Ryan Montgomery were on site to help Suunto lead a shake out run, capture social media content, and staff the expo booth.
We had one athlete race the from the Multisport Team - Liz Canty. This was her first time at WSER after securing her slot with a golden ticket effort at Georgia Death Race earlier this year. It is tough to set lofty goals when it’s your first go at WSER, however, Liz had much more on her mind than a silver buckle (sub 24 hour finish). On race day her physical and mental toughness shined and in a stellar performance she finishing in 13th place with a time of 20:55:44!

Our resident chef, Justin Cogley, felt right at home in Chamonix, France where he finished in 66th place out of 1,000 starters at the Marathon du Mont Blanc!
We didn’t call this out last week because David Fuentes was too fast for us to even catch him online! He ran a 1:03:37 half-marathon and punched his ticket to run at the 2020 Olympic Trials! His secret? He fuels on tacos!
Last but not least, we saw one of our Amer Sports brand employees, Hannah Fleming have a fantastic day at Ironman 70.3 Coeur D’Alene, crushing her personal best time by over 30 minutes! Well done Hannah!
